When you have a small business or non-profit, or you are starting something new on the side, you find yourself seeking the formulas that will lead to the success you desire. I’ve been where you are. I’m a bit of a serial entrepreneur and I know what it’s like to have a dream and turn it into a business.
I found a formula that worked. Consistently. For myself and my clients. It is:
Knowledge + Skills + Tools = Success
These item — “knowledge, skills, tools” — form the foundation of all the services I offer to my clients. Whether you want training or a specific marketing service, getting you the best knowledge, skills, and tools, is the secret to moving your business forward in a manner that is steady and strong.
Knowledge:
- Learn about content marketing – what it is, how it functions, and why it is an excellent marketing approach for small businesses.
- This is the education portion of what I teach you.
Skills and Tools:

A Few Comments on Success
I have found, in real-world settings, that when you master these components (knowledge, skills, tools), and when you do so by learning them in small amounts, applied steadily over time – – that is a process leads to success.
It is what works in the real world, not just in theory.
It addresses what is the best way to learn and how long that learning actually takes.
There’s a lot of instant gratification in the world today. Many clients who come to me are frustrated at how long things take. If you are feeling frustrated, please know you are not alone and you’re doing nothing wrong. It’s a remarkably common situation. It is because we are frequently consumers and employees these days. We are not well connected to the process that goes on behind each finished product. Whether it’s a piece of clothing, a yoga class, a movie, or some great food – in most cases we consume these items but we don’t participate in their creation or the steps to bring them to market. It is also due in no small part to the constant messaging we receive about instant solutions. When we make the leap to get into business we find that instant solutions aren’t the truth.

There are many online courses available that are well-marketed and make it seem like they have all the answers. With these courses the usual approach is that you buy the course, then work alone to learn the concepts by watching videos and reading articles. While these courses can work, what also happens is that people find themselves learning a one-size-fits-all solution in a vacuum.
I find that the online course approach does not help in the long run for this type of learning. It is human nature to need customization in learning and services, and to need encouragement at certain times.
The entire process works far better when you have a skilled and knowledgeable person to be your guide, someone who has been in your shoes and someone who knows what actually works. So that when you face a hurdle there is someone there to help you over it.
